Salt Creep Salt creep is unsightly, but perfectly normal - Don't worry though, it easy to get rid of.

**What is Salt Creep?**
Salt Creep happens when the cold damp salty atmosphere within the Water Softener salt bin condenses with the natural warm air from your home, the washing machine, tumble dryer or central heating. (Or when there is an extreme heatwave)

This causes the salty atmosphere in the water softener to crystalize. The result of this, is for the salt crystals to creep up the inside of the salt bin, and sometimes through the lid of the water softener carcass.

It can happen more often and faster during the winter months or heat wave, when the incoming mains water pipe is at its coldest and central heating is on more often.

**How can I get rid of it?**
If the salt starts to creep INSIDE the salt bin, use a flat headed screw driver to chip away the build-up of salt, letting it fall back into the salt bin.
If the salt is on the OUTSIDE of the water softener case (this happens when the salt creep builds up on the inside of the salt bin and escapes through the salt bin lid), then please chip it away and discard the salt creep. DO NOT put it back into the salt bin.

**Can I stop it from coming back?**
Although you won't be able to stop salt creep from happening, You can slow the process down with regular maintenance.
When your water softener is running low on salt, it is advised to clear any salt creep BEFORE you top up your salt bin.
If you clear any salt creep build up regularly, it won't become a big job.

Salt creep is perfectly normal. Easy to get rid of and easy to keep at bay with regular maintenance.
